The Australian DBT Institute is a specialist service established in 2004. We are Australia's longest established provider of education, mentoring and development of mental health professionals in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Workshops, Courses and Webinars

The Australian DBT Institute faculty are qualified mental health practitioners who have completed intensive training and currently run DBT & RO DBT programs! We have been facilitating professional development opportunities for mental health professionals since 2004 throughout Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Thailand and the UK!

In-person Training

The Australian DBT Institute's in-person professional development opportunities range from one day workshops to 12 month courses. We also host international leaders in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Radically Open DBT and Trauma Informed approaches.

Self-Paced Courses

Self-paced courses are a type of online or distance learning format that allows learners to study and complete coursework at their own preferred pace and schedule. Our self-paced programs have been overseen by our Clinical and Academic lead Dr. Peter King.

Pre-recorded Webinars

Pre-recorded webinars are a valuable educational tool that enable individuals to access and engage with valuable content, presentations, and training materials on their own terms, making them a popular choice for professional development.

LIVE Webinars

Our LIVE webinars are run via Zoom and feature international faculty in Radically Open DBT. ADBTI Institute faculty also offer a range of 1-3 hour live webinars in a range of topics including DBT and Safe Trauma Informed therapeutic approaches.

ADBTI Annual Supervision Program

The Australian DBT Institute's Annual DBT Supervision program supports Mental Health Professionals delivering a DBT Informed approach access supervision and support over a 11 month period (January to November).

What is a UC presentation?

Diagnostic presentations such as borderline personality disorder, substance misuse disorders, binge eating, ADHD, and bipolar are considered the spectrum of disorders characterised by emotion dysregulation or undercontrol (UC). DBT is an evidence based therapeutic approach that targets maladaptive undercontrol.

What is a OC presentation?

Diagnostic presentations such as refractory depression, autism, anorexia nervosa and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are considered the spectrum of disorders characterised by excessive inhibitory control or overcontrol (OC). Radically Open DBT is an evidence based therapeutic approach that targets maladaptive overcontrol.
